Chez Sovan Review

A bit ago we found ourselves at a Cambodian restaurant, Chez Sovan. It was fairly good and rather original; one could see the Chinese and Thai influences in some dishes in the cuisine but the dishes tended to be sweeter than either of the them. We also had some dishes, like lemon-grass chicken soup and something which vaguely reminded me of a catfish casserole, whose influences were harder to place.

Original Announcement

Our next outing will be next *Tuesday*. We'll try to go to Chez Sovan in Campbell (western side of San Jose) again. I've pasted the previous description I wrote about it below. I think we should eat at 7pm on Tuesday. Tell me if you're coming so we can arrange carpools. As always, if you are coming, remember to bring dollar bills to make it easier for us to split the bill.

Fiddle dee dee,

This is one restaurants on my list that I'm really excited about. Chez Sovan is a Cambodian restaurant; it's not widely-reviewed but the chowhounds (an non-mainstream list of people that like good food) rave about it. The best description of have of it is

Chez Sovan is run by a family and the cuisine is like a marriage of Burmese, Thai, Laotian etc cuisine. It is not as spicy as Thai and not as light as Laotian. What you get is an explosion on your tastebuds if you love eating foods that are complex in flavors and textures. Ask your server for recommendations and you will get to taste the traditional dishes. Be open to trying new items and you will be pleasantly surprised! Excellent food!

another says:

Chez Sovan's fare is the perfect melding of Thai food and the best flavors of Vietnam.
